I finally got the terrain right so here it is! All you can do it move Antinomy around his room. But still! Progress is being made! :D
OMG SOMEONE IS ACTUALLY EXCITED FOR OUR GAME SHGSKHGSLS
Well right now Felice-mun is on vacation. I forget when she’s coming back but when she does I will force her into slave labor mwahaha~
I’ll do my part too. This weekend I shall work on layouts and some more graphics for the game.
I’m so glad you’re looking forward to our game! :D
Our goal is to get a ver 0.00 out before the end of summer.
Thank you for being patient! ^^
Hey guys. It been a while. I just wanna share my art blog. Follow if you really want! i’ll just be reblogging and posting misc. Stuff.
As for the game, its going well. I’ve been flooded with bugs to fix and have been hard at work fixing them up. But, some people over on pixiv have brought something to my attention which i sortof find ridiculous.
This… kind of unnerves me? Am I going to get in trouble for making a game based on anime characters even though it’s an AU?
I mean, I plan to put a disclaimer… The game is solely for the enjoyment of playing it. I would think especially if you loved the anime… and if you’ve never seen it maybe it would get you interested in the anime.
I mean, is this any different from just drawing a fanart?
Hold up hold up.
When I posted what I did, I was caught up in wanting to spread positive messages about my game to the japanese fandom, but other uboachanners reminded me of these very important points:
A lot of outside material appears in Yume Nikki so I guess that means it can’t be validated as a Yume Nikki game?
Personally, I think you should tell them to go eat a dick
No, not literally. But just ignore them. There really isn’t a reason to even listen to them in the first place, since it’s not like a random group of Japanese people hold the power to decide which games are legitimate
Stranger here to say:
It’s a cultural thing, I’ve seen countless stuff like this letter go around before claiming these points because the Devs are not Japanese, kinda silly if you ask me.
If they chose to ignore the obvious fact that YN has a grand ton of recolored sprites and tiles that are used in the game in contrast to a game that doesn’t even USE said content and just had it there, I say ignore them or write a polite response stating just the facts.
I even pointed it out in my own post the seeming hypocrisy of their message and listed examples as well. And including the fact that save for those select things I mentioned in my list of “Things I Borrowed From Yume Nikki”, the rest of TLG is completely original OR free content.
While it’s always a good thing to treat international fans and their feelings with courtesy, we must remember to acknowledge when content is or is not our own, and unless Kikiyama or Nintendo themselves step in to tell us “Please don’t use these sprites” we are committing no wrongs legally or otherwise (not to mention all of these games are FREE AND ARE NOT COMMERCIALLY PRODUCED), despite what others may feel about it. Unless these individuals prove that these are the same sentiments Kikiyama feels and wants to be upheld, do not be discouraged.
Keep making your game and keep doing what you love. :33
Okay, thanks! I feel better now ^^
Ok so I’ve decided to vent here about uboachan’s /fg/ board because doing so there is a bad idea, and it seems many of you are much more reasonable than the /fg/ crowd and might not have even been to Uboachan.net before.
Fangame developers! With the popularity of making fangames finally hitting tumblr and a larger audience (as far as I’m aware), I know that many of you will be doing this for the first time. Many of you may not have photoshop or prior experience in your chosen version of RPG Maker. Many of you might not be skilled in one area or another, ranging from art to music to coding. And I’m sure anyone doing this for the first time is new to making videogames.
Because that is what you are doing.
You are making a videogame.
Not a terribly complex one, this isn’t Skyrim or Silent Hill we’re talking about here. Generally a Yume Nikki game is very low maintenance and seemingly easy to make, but it is still a game. From scratch. With your own graphics and music and plot (while not necessarily needed it is indeed important).
And here’s where the problem lies if and when you decide to bring your game development to Uboachan’s /fg/ board.
The people there are fucking brutal.
This is very nice to know. I’ve been considering starting up a thread on Uboa-chan about circuitdream.exe but I’m afraid of getting ragged on for making something inspired by an anime. So I just posted it here ^.^
I have a developer now! Which is lucky because I suck at… basically everything except coming up with ideas. xP
So Felice will be doing the sprite work and probably most -if not all- the programming and shit because I fail at life and she is amazing. :3
Hopefully this mean we might actually have a version 0.01 out before… oh let’s say… the summer? (in my hemisphere anyway)
I’d like to estimate June or July, being the optimist that I am.
So let’s see!
Let’s go Team CircuitDream!
Got my Ant sprite working. I know all the menus look like shit… sorry ^^; I’ll fix those soon.
Right now all you can do is make him walk, and I don’t know how to make him emit noise when he walks yet… BUT LOOK HE WALKS!
